As a neonatal clinical expert, Nate evaluates neonatal nursing standards of care and helps legal teams understand complex clinical issues in areas such as:

Before entering nursing, Nate spent approximately seven years working as a paramedic, developing early experience in emergency and critical care settings.
He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University and worked for over five years at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Nathaniel completed graduate training as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at the University of Pennsylvania, including clinical experience in the Surgical Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Since 2017, he has practiced as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Seattle Children’s Hospital, providing care for critically ill and premature infants in Level II, Level III, and Level IV neonatal intensive care units.
In addition to his clinical work, Nathaniel has served for more than ten years in the United States Air Force Reserve as a flight nurse, including deployment and leadership experience. He continues to serve today.
Nate has worked with hospitals and risk management groups to help them better understand the unique challenges and risks affecting caring for neonatal patients.
Nate generally doesn’t work directly with families and does not provide legal advice, but he’s glad to help guide them toward the right legal resources for their location. Once an attorney is secured, he’s happy to collaborate as part of the team.
